The Girls’ Middle Section consists of grades 6 to 8. It is the second home of girls aged 10 to 13. We have a total of 1800 students in 49 sections. Under the able guidance of our Headmistress Ms. Tasneem M Ahmed, a team of 80 motivated teachers take care of the overall development of the students, in academics as well as co-curricular activities.

Annual Staff Meeting

The academic year 2010-11 started off with the annual staff meeting called by the Principal on the 31st of March 2010.  The Principal briefed the staff  on the new preparations for the new year.  He also stressed that strict discipline should be maintained within the campus.
CBSE Orientation Programme on CCE
A workshop cum feedback session was held on the 6th of April 2010 in IIS Dammam, by a high level delegation from CBSE.  The delegation was headed by Ms. Anshu Vaish IAS, Secretary, Govt. of India and Mr. Vineet Joshi IAS, Chairman of CBSE and various officials from CBSE (Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Dr. Srijata Das and Ms. Sugandh Sharma).
The chairman of our school managing committee, Mr. John Thomas gave the welcome address and our Principal, Dr. Mohd Shaffe gave the introductory speech.  The purpose of their visit was to enlighten the staff and parents on the overall reforms brought about in the education scenario.  It was a face-to-face interaction with the officials of CBSE to clarify various issues such as the CBSE’s decision to do away with class X exams and CCE assessing methods.
The day long programme was divided into three sessions which included meeting with the complete faculty of IIS, Dammam, and principals and teachers of other CBSE schools.  In the afternoon session, the officials addressed the staff in smaller groups with a question and answer session.  In the evening session, they met the parents of IISD and clarified various queries.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2010- GMS
On the 27th of April a new set of leaders were sworn in as Captain, Vice-Captains,House Captains, Sports Captains and Prefects.  This Oath Taking Ceremony was witnessed by our Principal, Principal in Charge, Vice Principal, Registrar, Headmistress of various section, Controller of Examinations, Headmaster of UPGS, Chief Librarian, Finance Officer. During the ceremony Haya Sahir took charge as the Captain of GMS.

Activities
To bring out the talent and skills in our girls, we organize a lot of activities from time to time. Here are glimpses of a few of them.
Environment Week
To make our students Environment conscious, our School celebrated Environment Week.
National Education Day
Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad’s birthday was celebrated as National Education Day in GMS.  Various schools of learning from the gurukula system to the present day was depicted on stage.  Students dressed up like educationists Rabindranath Tagore, APJ Abdul Kalam, Radhakrishnan were paraded on stage.
Health week/fitness run
The first week of January 2011 was observed as health week in GMS.  A fitness run was organised on the 4th of January and the students participated enthusiastically.  Health oriented assembly was conducted to bring about awareness and consciousness of good health.  To inculcate good food habits among children, nutritional values of healthy food and adverse effects of fatty food was stressed.  Stretching exercises were performed by students in order to enhance the art of living
Vigilance awareness

GMS observed vigilance awareness day.  A ‘talk show’ on the topic ‘Can corruption in India be stopped? If yes, how can the youth of India stop corruption?’  The talk show concluded with the findings that population explosion and poor economic condition permitted corruption to thrive in India.

Communal harmony

Communal harmony day was observed in GMS to depict unity in diversity.  Varsha Raj of VI B gave a speech on communal harmony.  People who promoted communal harmony like Mahatma Gandhi, Abdul Kalam, Mother Teresa, Jawaharlal Nehru and Subash Chandra Bose paraded the stage.  Classrooms were decorated depicting the various states in India.  Food, costume, great personalities of various states  were displayed by the students

Princess of Reading

GMS celebrated Library Week to enhance reading habits in the students. Special assembly and reading context were conducted and the best readers were crowned as Princess of Reading.

Sports Day

Aerobics and March Past were the highlights of Sports day. Children participated actively in all the events.

Talent Search

Our school conducted Talent Search Exams to improve the General Knowledge of the students. Many Students participated and benefited from them.

Co-Curricular Activities

As part of the curriculum many co-curricular activities were held throughout the year. Through this the Talents of our girls were brought out. Many students actively participated in all of them.
